OHIO STATE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES

As 4-H Camp Palmer executive director, Bill Goodson motivates youth to get active and healthy, and he uses Ohio State’s employee wellness program, Your Plan for Health, to motivate himself to stay well.

On average, Bill and his staff host about 7,000 youth and adults annually in programs such as 4-H campers, outdoor education school students, band camps, retreats, challenge programs and special events. 4-H Camp Palmer is one of 13 camping facilities operated by Ohio State University Extension tasked with providing leadership building and youth development to Ohio youth.

When Program Director of Outreach and Engagement Quanetta Batts went to her University Libraries supervisor with a desire to do more community outreach three years ago, she opened the door to her passion of helping others and is leaving a lasting impact in the community.

AUNT FLOW

Recently members of our team here at Work Flow have been asked a LOT of questions about hand sanitizer. Instead of making you do ALL the research yourself, we put all the information and FAQs here for your reference. Though it can’t beat good ol’ handwashing with soap and water, hand sanitizer is very convenient for a quick dose of hygiene after you touch something that could have germs. In this new time of constant worry about what we’re interacting with when we go outside, we thought it would be helpful to let you all know how to use hand sanitizer in a way that maximizes your wellness.

As businesses and companies begin to open and we return to going out and seeing others we’d like to think we can return right back to the way things were before. But, we can’t do that!! You can’t hug your friend that comes to visit or that relative you haven’t seen in a while. You can’t even high five your friends when you see something cool. It’s even worse for kids who thrive off physical interaction and live for high fives. So what do we do? How can we express our excitement to others without putting ourselves at risk? How do we teach our children this new way of interacting with their friends?

THE LANTERN

When senior middle hitter Elle Sandbothe decided she needed a fresh start for her final year of collegiate volleyball, the decision to attend Ohio State was a no-brainer because of a connection that ran deeper than the sport.

Two sets of hands, two strategic minds, two completely different players, but Becca Mauer and Mac Podraza are one unit of setters for the Buckeyes during any given match.
Throughout the 2019 season, the junior and freshman have shared the key role of setting for the Buckeyes and spent this season getting to know each other,  themselves and how they can play as one unit to deliver a consistent, effective offense for their hitters.

SAMPLE PRESS RELEASE

Ohio State University Student Newspaper Partners With That School Up North

to Create New Special Edition

Columbus, Ohio—The Ohio State University student newspaper, The Lantern, is launching a new partnership with the Michigan student newspaper, The Michigan Daily, to create a special edition rivalry section set to release Nov. 26 in anticipation of the college football matchup.

A special collectable print section will be available across Columbus and Ann Arbor and will include stories written by each of the student newspapers. Buckeye fans and alumni can visit www.thelantern.com to read the exclusive digital edition.

“This is unprecedented in the history of this rivalry,” Lantern Advisor Spencer Hunt said. “This is first time the student news organizations of Ohio State and Michigan have cooperated to cover The Game and both schools are committed to providing outstanding journalism.”

Additionally, the special edition has a fundraising initiative attached to it. Both student newspapers will accept donations to their paper starting Nov. 17. The school that receives the most donations will be announced before the kickoff of the Nov. 30 game.

The donations received by the Ohio State student newspaper will go to the Lantern Support Fund. This fund is an endowment that The Lantern is building to secure financial and editorial security for the organization. The donated money helps pay for editors' stipends, printing costs, travel and vital equipment, including computers and cameras.

“We are striving toward the future of journalism at both universities,” Hunt said. “Even though we’re rivals, we care about the honest pursuit of the first amendment and are dedicated to providing opportunities for our students to grow as young journalists.”

The issue will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 26 and the Ohio State versus Michigan football game will be the following Saturday on Nov. 30.
